Newquay may be well known for its surfing but there’s also a huge selection of other water sports, activities and pastimes run by professional companies and instructors in and around the town.
Newquay really is the place for activities on sea, land and even in the air. Many of our beaches, plus the harbour have activity centres where you can do a wide selection of sea, beach and cliff activities all in one place. There is sea fishing, snorkelling, diving and some great boat trips to enjoy with a chance of seeing the local sealife. Although famous for our coastline, and its clear seas, there is also the Gannel Estuary, Trenance Boating Lake, water & Aqua parks and a FlowRider to enjoy. In fact, there is very few water based activities you won’t find in or around Newquay!
There is no less to do on dry land as well. Not far from Newquay is a Go Kart circuit at St Eval with a range of go karts from cub juniors to the 70mph speed machines. Have a ride on a segway, go horse riding & pony trekking or simply enjoy walking the spectacular coast path. There’s golf courses, a golf driving range, pitch ‘n’ putt and crazy golf.
As for reaching for the skies? With the Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre, based at Cornwall Airport Newquay, you can book one of their flying experiences taking in an aerial tour of Newquay’s coast and even be given the opportunity to take control of the aircraft. On the ground is a display of aircraft from several different era’s plus café, picnic area and gift shop.

Blue Reef Aquarium
From the local Cornish coast to the dazzling beauty of the Tropical Reef, Newquay Blue Reef aquarium has an exciting world of underwater adventure waiting to be discovered. More than 40 innovative displays vividly bring to life the sights, sounds and smells of the sea, whilst regular feeding displays, rock-pool workshops and informative talks provide a fun and fascinating day out. Visitors can enjoy the closest of undersea encounters with amazing aquatic life including seahorses, giant octopus, and fierce Piranha. At the aquariums heart is a spectacular coral reef display housed within a 250,000 litre ocean tank - home to exotic tropical species like reef sharks and Omiros the rescued loggerhead turtle.
